Baseline Emissions Footprint

Baseline emissions are a record of the greenhouse gases that have been produced in the past and were produced prior to the introduction of any strategies to reduce emissions. Baseline emissions are the reference point against which emissions reduction can be measured.

Emissions Reduction Target

In order to continue our progress toward achieving Net Zero, we have set the following carbon reduction targets.

Since this is our first year measuring emissions, we are establishing a baseline for Scope 1, Scope 2, and Scope 3 emissions. Our initial target focuses on Scope 3 emissions, as these are the primary contributors to our carbon footprint. We project that Scope 3 emissions will decrease by 10% over the next three years, reaching 11.754 tCO₂e by 2027.

This reduction target addresses emissions associated with purchased goods and materials, transportation, and waste management. We will review our progress annually to ensure we stay on track and adjust our approach to meet this commitment.

Progress against these targets can be seen in the graph below:

Carbon Reduction Project

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

  • Green Delivery Partners: We use green-focused couriers, such as DPD, who are committed to reducing emissions and have already met their CO₂ reduction goals.

  • Reduced Business Travel: Increased remote work and virtual meetings to cut travel emissions.

  • Sustainable product package: Our natural paper labels and stickers are certified by FSC and PEFC, ensuring they are sourced from sustainable forests. Additionally, we offer aluminum refill bottles as a sustainable alternative to single-use plastic containers. Aluminum is highly recyclable and can be reused multiple times, significantly reducing plastic consumption and waste. Please see details of our current packaging option:

In the future we hope to implement further measures such as:

  • Supply Chain Engagement: We will work with suppliers to reduce Scope 3 emissions and finalise a contract with an eco-friendly logistics partner that donates 10% of profits to Whale and Dolphin Conservation and The Woodland Trust.

  • Carbon Offsetting through Tree Planting: To further our commitment to sustainability, we aim to offset our carbon emissions by implementing a tree planting initiative by January 2025.

  • Use of Eco-Friendly Browsers: All employees will be required to use eco-friendly web browsers, such as Ecosia, which plant trees with each search. We plan to implement this initiative by January 2025.

  • Future Packaging Initiatives: We plan to transition to eco-friendly outer packaging by utilising FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) certified cardboard for our shipping boxes. We will also implement sustainable materials, such as kraft tape for sealing. This approach ensures that all packaging components are environmentally responsible and can be recycled or composted. Below is a preview of the new packaging to be implemented:
